Hope you have a happy Valentines in a week. When our two kids were home, from the time they were little, I would make the month of February special. It also helped that my husband has a birthday on Feb. 11. I would do little notes, colored food, fun baking, little Valentines gifts. At dinner time each person would have a card that I had pre written, “Say one nice thing about dad (or grandma or a friend etc.) We did this every night for the whole month of February and we all loved it so much that I would pull the cards out every once in a while and for a week we would do this. By the time they were both in middle school, we didnt need the cards and things got really cool with who these two kiddos were thankful for and now it also became “why”
I was told that I was doing things way over board but these two kiddos (now 39 and 27) learned how to appreciate others and to say to their faces how much they appreciated them and why. So I am glad I kept doing it.
