Good morning! Or afternoon, or evening! It’s me, Bizzy Baker and I’m currently in Cider Cove, coastal Maine where I happen to manage the Country Cottage Inn. A film crew has descended on the inn and it’s been chaos here the last few days.
When I agreed to let them film a few scenes of a movie called, Cat Scratch Fever, I never thought our lives would get turned upside down. They’re currently filming their first shot in front of the café and I’m watching from the white sandy beach of the cove along with my hot to trot sister, Macy, and Georgie Conner, an eighty-something-year-old hippy that I seem to have inherited after my father divorced her daughter. I don’t mind though. Georgie is a kaftan wearing hoot, who also happens to be a very talented artist specializing in mosaics. She mines all of coastal Maine for sea glass to use in her pieces.
A group of men from the crew walk by, and the one in the middle with a dark mustache and deep-welled dimples bounces his brows suggestively at my sister.
“Dibs on Magnum P.I.,” Macy says as she swats me. “Why didn’t you tell me you’ve been having a beefcake buffet for the past few days?”
I can’t help but make a face at my overzealous sister. She’s always had a bit of an addiction to testosterone, but the older she gets the worse this condition seems to get.
“Because I knew you’d swoop in and help yourself to the buffet,” I tell her. “Pace yourself, Macy. This isn’t an all you can eat extravaganza. And some of these men might already be taken. Try to vet them properly before you go on the attack.”
An older man with a graying mustache and dimples walks by wearing a Hawaiian shirt and Georgie wiggles her shoulders his way.
“Well hubba hubba, hot stuff.” Georgie fluffs out her long gray curls. “Dibs on Milk of Magnesia P.I.”
Macy and I exchange a brief glance.
“Don’t look at me,” I say. “You trained her.”
